Meet our teamApex Appraisal Service was originally founded by certified appraiser, Tim Hamilton.
Tim began as a partner with a small local appraisal company in Northern California.
Eventually, he opened his own fee shop.
In 2009, there were new and changing regulations within the mortgage industry.
At that time, Tim refocused his efforts to build a national appraisal management company.
Nearly 10 years later, Apex met an AMC with similar values and complementary strengths.
In 2018, Apex merged business operations with Value Trend Solutions based in Phoenix, Arizona.
In 2019, Apex partnered with international valuation provider, Opteon.
In 2020, Apex released a new and improved custom appraisal management software, Ascent.
In 2020, Apex began developing a revolutionary appraisal platform under the Opteon U.S.A. umbrella.
Apex’s goal is to offer real-time, same-day appraisals.

Tim Hamilton is Owner and President of Apex Appraisal Service. Tim is also a Certified Appraiser with more than 17 years of experience. Since Apex’s inception in 2009, Tim has overseen staff growth, mergers and strategic partnerships, and national expansion of services across all 50 states. Tim has developed and maintained exceptional relationships with the clients he serves and continues to be influential in his business and community. Tim has a respected reputation that yields organic business opportunities locally and nationally. Tim is passionate about humanitarian and social drives and is a key contributor in efforts to support local and national non-profit charities such as Families for Children and Taylor House.

Gabriel Hern is Chief Executive Officer at Apex Appraisal Service. He is responsible for driving innovation, long-term strategic growth, and overseeing all facets of Apex’s business. Prior to joining Apex, Gabriel served in various leadership roles. His experience includes oversight of sales, operations, and alliance development in green logistic vehicles for commercial fleets and at a private investment firm. He also has more than a decade of experience in the mortgage industry as the owner and CEO of Arrowhead Mortgage and as Branch Manager and Originator for Golf Savings Bank (Umpqua Bank). Since joining Apex in 2016, Gabriel has spearheaded numerous initiatives including developing B2B sales and marketing strategies, technology integration and innovation, national lender partnerships, and client satisfaction. Gabriel has a huge heart for charity, is actively involved in his community and is an advocate for foster care and adoption. Gabriel and his wife have 6 kids and they enjoy spending time going on adventures, traveling and attending sporting events.

Greg Bernstein is Chief Operations Officer at Apex Appraisal Service. Prior to merging with Apex in 2018, Greg managed multiple companies in the real estate industry before founding Value Trend Solutions (VTS) in 2009. Serving as the organization’s Managing Partner, Greg helped to position VTS for long term success which led to an eventual partnership with Apex. In his current capacity, Greg continues his focus on sustainable financial health, responsible growth, operational excellence, and corporate culture. Greg has earned both an undergraduate degree and an MBA from Arizona State University and has more than 15 years of experience in real estate. He also serves on the Advisory Council for the non-profit, Care Fund.

Amber Reyna is Chief Customer Officer at Apex Appraisal Service and oversees brand management, marketing, and growth initiatives. Amber was previously at Value Trend Solutions where she worked in a similar capacity. She brings nearly 20 years of expertise including her time as VP of Operations & Business Development at Josephs Appraisal Group. Outside of the appraisal industry, Amber was part of the senior leadership team for a worldwide facilities management organization where she provided strategic direction for 4 business verticals including marketing, sales, training, and software / product development. Her direction led to their global expansion among multiple Fortune 500 clients throughout the U.S, Latin America, Singapore and the U.K. Amber sits on the Advisory Council and is an active marketing committee member for the non-profit, Care Fund. Amber enjoys running, yoga, and activities with her husband and their 3 boys.

Dave Houseman is the Vice President of Customer Relations at Apex. His experience includes managing, creating, and implementing results-oriented processes and procedures for Finance of America Mortgage’s appraisal department. Throughout his 8-year tenure there, Dave developed a vendor management strategy that not only supported FAM’s explosive growth, but also led the industry in compliance. Under Dave’s leadership, FAM received zero violations and scored the highest levels (90%+) on more than 60 audits. He chose to join Apex because out of the 21 appraisal management companies that Dave managed, Apex never had a single compliance violation and delivered the highest level of quality, integrity and service. Dave and his wife have 5 children and 6 grandchildren. They love to travel, attend sporting events, visit amusement parks around the world, and volunteer for charity events/fundraisers that benefit many local charities and organizations such as Wounded Warriors, Cancer Foundation, and SAC Food Locker.

Jennifer Maccano is the VP ofHuman Resources for Apex Appraisal Service where she ensures HR compliance and serves as an advocate for employees. Jennifer has more than 15 years of experience in people management, specifically within the Real Estate Appraisal Industry. She specializes in building and sustaining a great company culture with an emphasis on employee coaching and development. Jennifer’s fundamental belief that happy employees are productive employees motivates her to help individuals reach their greatest potential. Outside of work, Jennifer has been serving as a Peoria Unified School District (PTSO) School Liaison for the past 5 years to help improve communication between district and parents.

Caleb Allen is a National Sales Executive as the Pacific Northwest Regional Sales Director. For almost two decades, he has built a career in business development and relationship management. Caleb understands our industry and brings with him over ten years of experience in the lending world; starting as an originator and moving into various management positions with Mann Mortgage and Fairway Independent Mortgage. During this time, his greatest measurable success has come as a result of the direct focus on developing satisfying, long-term collaborations with clients in a very real, authentic manner. This sort of trust is earned and has been the hallmark of his career over the years. Caleb resides in Western Washington with his wife Kristal and their four children. He enjoys eating good food, surfing, snowboarding, kite-boarding, a good soccer match and his Chargers!

Jennifer is a National Sales Executive at Apex Appraisal Service with a focus on Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico and Utah. Jennifer brings with her a diverse combination of experiences in the legal, marketing/public relations, and real estate industry. Since 2006, she has been a licensed residential real estate agent and has held branch and sales management positions for two of the largest national broker brands in the country. She has coached and trained hundreds of agents, helped build large real estate teams, and consulted with broker/owners regarding operations, recruiting, and retention programs. Jennifer volunteers as the Development Committee Chair for the Care Fund and is a Board of Director on the Kierland Community Alliance. Outside of work, Jennifer is an avid sports enthusiast, artist, and podcast/book junkie. She enjoys spending time with her husband of over 25 years, her 2 adult sons, and their German Shepherd, Leyla.

Jennifer Fleming is Apex’s Vice President of Quality Control. She manages a team of highly competent QC specialists and the workflow for our review appraisers. Jennifer has been with the company for nearly 10 years and helped develop the Quality Department from the ground up. Her proven track record of training, developing, and managing her team has resulted in an industry-leading controllable revision rate between 5 and 10%! Jennifer is the primary expert for up-to-date appraisal guidelines and attends continuing education classes for USPAP, FHA, and FNMA, among others. She has earned the respect of clients, appraisers, and team members who consult her on questions regarding quality control standards, compliance, escalated issues, and appraisal disputes. Her knowledge and expertise ensures the highest level of quality and compliance while reducing risk to our clients.
We are passionate about supporting charitable organizations that help children, families, veterans, and communities in need. As part of our commitment to giving back, we offer paid Volunteer Time Off (VTO) so that Apex team members can support causes that matter most to them. We believe that being part of the business community comes with a responsibility to give back. Here’s what we’ve been up to these last 18-months:
As foster parents themselves, Apex Owner Tim Hamilton and his wife Cathy are highly involved in the success of Safe Harbor. The organization provides hope for children in foster care who are coming out of very difficult circumstances. Families who commit to caring for a traumatized child receive specialized assistance, support, education, and service to ensure placement stability and a secure home that will be a Safe Harbor for these children.
As an active member of Care Fund’s Advisory Council, the VTS team at Apex regularly volunteers their time to raise money and awareness for families needing mortgage or rent assistance during a child’s extended health crisis. We believe that no family should have to choose between caring for their child or working to pay their mortgage. As part of our commitment, a portion of every appraisal management fee is donated monthly to support Care Fund.
In 2019, Apex hosted its inaugural golf tournament and mortgage mixer to raise money for several of its favorite charities. Apex is passionate about helping improve the foster care system and making it easier and more manageable to provide long-term lasting care for kids needing families.

A former-employee and continued friend is a father to a son with autistic superpowers that allow him to see, hear, smell and feel things at an extraordinarily heightened level. Team members at Apex support Autism Speaks for their advocacy of individuals with autism and families like our friend. Autism Speaks also works to increase appreciation for these autistic superpowers and advance research into causes and better support of autism
One of our very own Apex team members came from The Taylor House! This remarkable organization helps young women who age out of foster care and are suddenly considered adults at the age of 18. The Taylor House helps these at-risk youth transition into adulthood and become well-rounded, self-sufficient, confident adults who are empowered with the tools and life skills needed to step out on their own and enrich our communities.
Apex is proud to support veterans through our annual involvement in the Alpine Cares Golf Tournament. The event allows Allegiant Giving to purchase Action Track Chairs for veterans who have sustained serious injuries and/or can no longer enjoy outdoor activities because of age. These remarkable chairs allow previously immobile veterans to hunt, fish, camp, pull their children on a sled in the snow, tow a kayak to the water’s edge, or even walk their daughter down the aisle at her beach wedding.
